KCA have designed 44 affordable dwellings on a site assembled from three parcels of land for Sanctuary Housing Association. The proposals sit adjacent to St Luke’s listed church building, St Luke’s primary school and Kier Hardie Park and involved detailed discussions with Newham’s conservation officers and design review panel to arrive at a scheme that responded to the setting and site constraints. Constraints included, the listed building, flood risk and shading and overlooking of the school. A new pedestrian route through the site is proposed to link with the Canning Town and Custom House Activity Street and a new communal garden is proposed.
“Giving clear and understandable presentations, always calm and patient KCA are old hands at consultation.” Martin Spring, Building Magazine
